Job Summary
The Inventory Supervisor 1 (IS1) supports the daily execution of cannabis inventory operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and organization across retail and wholesale environments. This role builds upon the Inventory Associate position by adding team leadership, system troubleshooting, and end-to-end inventory lifecycle accountability. The IS1 mentors and trains team members, collaborates with retail and inventory leaders, and manages inventory flows with precision and care. This position requires strong systems knowledge, attention to detail, and clear communication skills, with a focus on improving processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Relationship
Support daily packaging, labeling, stocking, and deployment of cannabis products.
Coordinate ESL setup, stock alerts, and retail readiness workflows.
Ensure all inventory is prepared for the sales floor in accordance with OLCC and METRC standards.
Troubleshoot inventory issues in POS and escalate through appropriate channels.
Collaborate with the Retail team to respond to stock requests, guest product concerns, and real-time operational needs.
2. Learning & Leading
Mentor and train Inventory Associates on technical tasks, workflows, and compliance best practices.
Support peer accountability by reinforcing consistent SOP usage and inventory standards.
Contribute to onboarding and cross-training of new team members.
Maintain clear communication with the Inventory Supervisor 2 and Inventory Manager on team performance, challenges, and opportunities.
Encourage learning through documentation sharing and continuous feedback.
Mentor and support Inventory Associates to build competency in compliance and data integrity.
Lead team development by providing constructive feedback, coaching, and skill-building opportunities.
3. Processes & Technology
Build product entries in POS and manage intake documentation.
Lead intake, deployment, and inventory control processes for both retail and wholesale channels.
Print and apply labels in alignment with compliance and merchandising expectations.
Maintain product lifecycle in POS and ESL, including adjustments, transfers, and UID tag closures.
Perform regular audits, cycle counts, and data integrity checks.
Use spreadsheets, project management tools, and supplier files to maintain accuracy and flow.
Proactively identify and suggest improvements to processes and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
Troubleshoot technical issues within POS and other inventory management tools to minimize disruptions.
4. Financial Stewardship
Monitor and report inventory discrepancies across systems and physical stock.
Support inventory reconciliation processes and product returns.
Track product movement and ensure accuracy in digital records.
Understand the financial impact of inventory loss, and support shrink-reduction efforts.
Assist with vendor communications for documentation, images, and invoice alignment.
Identify inefficiencies and propose solutions to reduce inventory loss and improve cost management.
5. Innovation
Identify ways to improve packaging, tracking, or deployment systems.
Suggest updates to SOPs, shelf maps, and process flows based on on-the-ground observations.
Test and provide feedback on new software tools and reporting methods.
Propose ideas that improve inventory efficiency or team collaboration.
Contribute to the development of scalable workflows for new products or processes.
Collaborate with the team to implement process improvements and integrate new technologies.
Actively participate in testing and providing feedback on new tools or systems that could enhance workflow or accuracy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 1 year experience in cannabis packaging and inventory strongly preferred
Prior experience in a production or stockroom environment is desirable
Familiarity with OLCC and METRC regulations (or willingness to learn)
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
Comfortable with repetitive tasks and able to maintain consistency over long work periods
Solid understanding of cannabis product types and packaging requirements
Proficient in spreadsheets, POS systems, and digital inventory tracking
Ability to work independently and with a team, demonstrating initiative and accountability
Strong communication and time management skills
Special Demands:
Ability to lift heavy objects. Transport, carry and handle inventory materials delicately.
Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and navigating stairs. Capable of movement throughout any location.
Performance of repetitive tasks.
Travel between locations for shifts, shift coverage, business support and training.
