Inventory Associate Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Inventory Associate assists with inventory controls activity – receiving, organizing, stocking, cycle counting, merchandising, tracking, production. The Inventory Associate accurately weighs, packages and labels material and prepares retail products for the sales floor. In this role, maintaining accuracy in weighing product, fulfillment, labeling, and unit counts is paramount. The Inventory Associate adheres to hygiene and sanitation requirements and maintains a perpetually clean workspace. This person is engaged in tracking products, physically and digitally, in front and back of house to ensure compliance with state laws and program regulations. The ideal candidate has a relentlessly positive attitude, a strong work ethic, competitive and team-oriented spirit, and great attention to detail. Supervised by Inventory Management.


Summary of Key Responsibilities 

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

 

Customer Relationship

  • Package plant material into proper containers with proper labeling to ensure compliance with state regulations. Maintain documentation of work activity.

  • Keep a precise count of all packaged product and weight(s) of product used for an accurate reconciliation of packaged inventory and remaining inventory.

  • Deploy and stock packaged products to the sales floor. Perform any merchandising tasks.

  • Clean personal workspace, operations & sales areas, and bathroom & kitchen. Take out trash & recycling.

  • Provide great customer service when supporting Retail staff. Some customer sales may be required from time to time.

  • Exhibit competency in basic organizational, task management, and communication skills.

  • Support company sales efforts with attention to knowledge acquisition and skill building

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, and follow Company policies & procedures, especially since they may change readily.

  • Assists with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.

  • Contribute to a positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in employee morale and performance, and communicate them to the Inventory or Retail Store Managers.

  • Manage time efficiently in order to meet goals while consistently producing quality product.

 

Processes & Technology

  • Monitor and engage with various software tools - documents & spreadsheets, point of sale, activity tracking, learning & performance management. 

  • Utilize software to convert, manage and move products in the POS system, and update tasks in Activity Management software.

  • Precisely apply barcode and compliance labels to packages. 

  • Properly place UID tags for sales floor and METRC compliance. Close package tags.

  • Understand, update and interact with paper & electronic tracking sheets.

  • Repackage items for organization and storage.

  • Verify product & packaging accuracy, along with retail placement and price tags..

  • Work with Inventory Supervisors to get daily packaging assignments.

 

Financial Stewardship

  • Assist with inventory control – intakes, deployments, stocking, merchandising.

  • Count daily inventory items as directed. Perform continuous Cycle Counts.

  • Report discrepancies to Inventory Supervisors and Store Management.

  • Participate in periodic store-wide inventory reconciliation.

  • Perform data entry with accuracy.


Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities


  • High School Education or GED required.

  • 1+ years working in a production environment is preferred.

  • Experience in inventory controls - packaging products, stocking and merchandising, performing cycle counts is highly desirable.

  • Must work well in a group and independently; demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.

  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure and technique

  • Employee must exhibit personal hygiene and follow the health guidelines set forth by Substance and the state while processing cannabis products

  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively with various audiences, especially with the direct supervisors and co-workers

  • Ability to perform monotonous tasks with efficiency over 8-hour work periods, without sacrificing standards and accuracy.

  • Follow basic instructions as well as be able to take constructive feedback from managers to maintain quality standards and production goals.

  • Understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Substance.

  • Must have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.
