Lead, Energy and Healthy Homes Trainer
ABOUT US: Founded in 1981, Isles is a nationally recognized nonprofit
community development and environmental organization with the mission to foster
self-reliant families in healthy, sustainable communities. Each year, Isles reaches thousands of central
New Jersey residents with opportunities for at-risk youth job training,
affordable housing development, financial literacy training, homeownership
counseling, community gardening, environmental health and education, community
organizing, and regional planning.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Since
2009, CEET has been training individuals to enter or grow their careers in the
energy and environmental health fields. Our focus has been in generating jobs
and economic opportunity while making homes safe, healthy, and energy
efficient. More than 4,500 individuals have received certifications
through CEET training. Isles’ CEET offers industry-driven training that
includes classroom, laboratory, and field experiences, depending on the
training. Many of our certifications are nationally recognized and allows
a successful trainee to seek employment anywhere in the U.S.
Our professional training in the energy
and environmental fields is designed to meet the needs of:
- Unemployed and underemployed
individuals seeking decent paying green jobs.
- Workers wishing to advance their
skills and certifications.
- Employers seeking customized
training for their employees.
The Lead, Energy and Healthy Homes Trainer (LEHHT) is responsible
for the outreach, processing and successful delivery of the Isles lead, energy
and healthy housing trainings for qualified trainees. The LEHHT will participate in outreach and
processing for trainees, assist in preparing materials for training classes, provide
classroom, laboratory, and field training and certification tests for students,
provide workforce readiness, environmental sustainability, and life skills
instruction for trainee classes as needed and maintain digital records and
files for grant reports. This position will work closely with the Director of
Training and Support, Director of Training Services and other staff engaged in
the workforce development service area. This
position interfaces with a variety of organizational personnel, customers,
community-based organizations and the general public.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate
in the review, revision, and implementation of departmental training strategies
and budget development.
·
Monitor
progress towards achieving goals and objectives in assigned areas.
·
Assist
in monitoring expenses in line with budget.
·
Prepare
monthly reports and analysis of progress towards goals in assigned areas.
·
Provide
quarterly and annual evaluation of training programs assigned.
·
Maintain
CEET’s video and other records associated with BPI and other training and
testing programs.
·
Maintain
certification to proctor and test under BPI, DOH, and EPA programs.
·
Participate
in outreach and processing for trainees.
·
Assist
in preparing materials for training classes.
·
Provide
classroom, laboratory, and field training and certification tests for students
as assigned.
·
Provide
community and other training as assigned.
·
Assist
with preparation of trainees based on their need.
·
Identify,
assess, and address individual trainee needs, concerns, and problems.
·
Provide
workforce readiness, environmental sustainability, and life skills instruction
for trainee classes as needed.
·
Maintain
digital records and files promptly and accurately.
·
Assist
in continually improving and maintaining the training facility and equipment.
·
Attend
pertinent professional courses, seminars, and workshops to maintain the highest
level of professional competence.
·
Other
duties in support of the department’s goals as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- High
School diploma or G.E.D. plus 1 year of work equivalent
- Knowledge
of building science, lead hazards and healthy housing.
- Current
Building Performance Institute (BPI) certifications or ability to obtain
certifications within 6 months.
- Valid
Driver’s License and insurable driving record
- CPR
and basic First Aid certification within 90 days of employment
- Lead
Safe Renovator Certificate within 45 days of employment.
- Able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Able to use
current Microsoft Office programs
including Word, Excel,
and Outlook effectively.
- Outstanding time management and
organizational skills.
- Ability
to prepare narrative reports and presentations.
Preferred, But Not Required
·
Spanish language proficiency
·
Adult training experience

Position Details: Exempt, 40 hour/week
position, flexible schedule. Salary range: $45,000-$60,000 depending
on training and experience.
