Educational Manager - Johnson Center for Learning and Impact
ABOUT US: Founded in
1981, Isles is a nationally recognized nonprofit community development and
environmental organization with the mission to foster more self-reliant
families in healthy, sustainable communities.
Each year, Isles reaches thousands of central New Jersey residents with
opportunities for at-risk youth job training, affordable housing development,
financial literacy training, homeownership counseling, community gardening,
environmental health and education, community organizing, and regional
planning.
To invest in
the empowerment of community-based approaches and organizations in both Trenton
and beyond, Isles launched the Johnson Center for Learning & Impact
in 2022. We designed the center to be a vehicle through which Isles can advance
knowledge, best practices, and resources; strengthen public policies; build
stronger data and research capacity within Isles; and prepare the next
generation of community leaders.

team consists of 100 employees, plus a corps of volunteers and an engaged Board
of Directors.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Educational
Manager is an integral member of the Johnson Center Team overseeing our
programs that build the capacity of the next generation of social
entrepreneurs, community advocates, and civic leaders. The position is responsible for coordinating
the creation and facilitating the implementation of: Isles Internship Program; Leadership
Trenton (a social entrepreneur and civic leadership program) and Isles Forum. The
Educational Manager also participates in Johnson Center and Isles wide events
as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø
Leadership Trenton
·
Coordinate the development and pilot of the new
Leadership Trenton Program
·
Coordinate partners for curriculum
development; recruitment and implementation
·
This is a new program so specific duties will
evolve with the program.
Ø Isles
Internship Program
·
Manage and coordinate the all aspects of Isles
Summer Internship from recruiting and supporting internal Hosts to recruiting
process for college intern.
·
Builds and maintains relationships with colleges and
universities to facilitate recruiting
·
Works collaboratively across Isles to create
internship opportunities and match them with appropriate students.
·
Serves as a liaison between Isles Hosts and
internship program
·
Manages the orientation and onboarding
activities for college interns, and assist in the orientation process
·
Tracks the implementation of all new hire steps
for college interns and follow up to ensure completion and requirements are
submitted to school
·
Works in conjunction with JC Data Specialist to
ensure the website is up to date
·
Coordinates end of internship talk backs as a
place for interns to share what they have been engaged with at Isles (3x year)
·
Partners with Community Engagement Director to
manage intern community service projects
·
Maintains constant communication with MD &
HR about intern timesheets
·
Manages intern participation for Isles events
Ø Isles
Forum
·
Coordinate the Isles Forum – a symposium
designed to share community development best practices.
·
Work with JC Data Specialist to ensure
appropriate technology.
·
Coordinate forum action team and work in
conjunction with Managing Directors to engage speakers.
·
Work with communications staff to advertise and
recruit participants.
·
Maintain communication with speakers and
participants.
·
Responsible for evaluations of forum
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge,
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to
detail
- Experience successfully producing and implementing
conferences and/or educational programing
- Experience engagement and meeting educational and
training needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and collegially in a
fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills including good listening
and speaking skills, and the ability to organize written information
efficiently
- Comfort using technology including a desktop
computer, AV equipment, and a large volume of email messages
- Must be approachable, friendly and self-confident and
have the ability to respond appropriately and accurately in different and
sometimes stressful situations

Position Details: 40 hour/week
position, flexible schedule. Salary range: $50,000-$65,000
